Ask a Pregnant Lady: Baby Products

Transcript: Okay, essentials. Oh, there are so many essentials. You have no idea until the baby come that you need it. For women that are breastfeeding, you must get a Boppy pillow. And it’s the pillow that, it’s almost a circle and you fit it around your belly and the baby lays on it. I can’t tell you how much this helped me. There’s also something called the Podee bottle, It’s a hands-free bottle, so it’s like a straw, basically it’s a straw with the nipple on the end and the straw in the bottle. It’s called the Podee. P-O-D-double E. Podee. And that’s great for the car. I tell everyone they need a Podee bottle. You need a mommy bear. And that is the stuffed bear that you wind up in the back and it makes the womb sounds. That will get your baby to go to sleep. You need MYLICON, is that what it’s called? MYLICON. It’s the gas drops for colicky babies. Have those on hand. Burp clothes. You need burp clothes. So many babies just spit up a lot and it gets in your hair and on your clothes. And grandma’s holding baby and, Oh no! Grandma got spit up on. Have the burp clothes on hand. A hamper. You don’t even think about. Hampers are really important because the baby goes through so many clothes throughout the day and if you always want to just throw it somewhere and have a hamper right next to the changing table. Something I tell people they don’t need that they always think they do need is those diaper pales. They smell. There’s a reason why nurseries smell weird and it’s because of those diaper pales, because those diapers are sitting and they’re just fermenting and, gosh, so nasty. Take those diapers outside to the garbage can or your house will smell. There is no such thing as a diaper pale that masks the odor of the 40,000 diapers that are going to be in there. So don’t waste your money on… I’m looking at one right now as I’m talking. So I’m like, am I offending you, diaper pale? Sorry diaper pale, but you’re not necessary. And, onesies. You need so many little onesies. It’s the body suit that snaps at the crotch. Be practical when it comes to clothes. Your baby isn’t going to be wearing Sunday’s best ruffles during the day when you’re at home. Get many onesies. I’m going on too long but there’s so many things that you need. A bottle drying rack. They’re like three bucks. You need one of the those. That’s important. A breast pump. Oh my gosh, how have I not said this yet. Ladies, or husbands if your wives or girlfriends are breastfeeding you must get a breast pump. A good one. Don’t get that hand held. Do not get the hand held because you will be sitting there for four hours pumping and she won’t be happy. Get the Madela, like, hospital grade suction, you know. You can do two at time. You gotta have a good breast pump.
