Know How: How to Fake Being Sick

With a new school year beginning, you need, as a parent, to be prepared: buying school supplies, enforcing earlier bedtimes, making lunches, keeping up with your children's progress in the classroom—the list seems endless. Well, let me add another item to it: making sure that when your kids claim to be too sick to go to school they really are sick.

As a dad, I watched this video—How to Fake Being Sick—with keen interest. That devious crew at Howcast has put together a crackerjack step-by-step instructional video on "pulling a Ferris Bueller," offering such feats of legerdemain as the use of water-soaked, broken-up cornflakes as phony vomit and a quick gulp of hot water to produce a false reading on your thermometer.

Diabolical! Would our precious darlings go to such lengths to skip school? Of course not. But you should check out the video, just in case. Avoid being one of the supplies necessary to complete the project—"a gullible parent."
