4 Easy Fruit Dip Recipes

Too hot to cook in the summer heat? Or maybe you're just looking for a cool and light addition to your backyard party spread. Well, here are four easy fruit-dip recipes you can make on short notice with very few ingredients.

Apple Nut Dip

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz pkg. cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Beat the sour cream, cream cheese and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Chill the mixture for at least two hours. Just before serving, spread the mix into a serving bowl and sprinkle with a little more cinnamon mixed with the chopped nuts, or just the cinnamon alone if you are omitting the nuts. Serve with sliced apples or other fruit for dipping.

Pina Colada Dip

  • 2 cartons plain yogurt
  • 1 oz vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1 1/2 tbs light rum or 1 tsp rum extract
  • 1 tsp coconut extract
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping (thawed)

In a medium bowl, blend the yogurt and pudding mix until smooth. Stir in the pineapple, rum, coconut extract and thawed whipped topping. Refrigerate until it is time to serve. This dip may be served on the side with fresh fruits like pineapple, apples, orange slices, mandarin orange slices, strawberries, melons and grapes. Or, as an alternative, skewer the fruits kabob-style and then drizzle a little of the dip over the top. For variety ,add small squares of pound cake to the kabobs, alternating with the fruit.
