Easy Recipes for Summer Party Food

Easy Recipes for Summer Party Food

Whether you are throwing an intimate summer party for a few or inviting the whole neighborhood, here are some easy food ideas to make your summer party food delicious.

Main Dishes

Kebabs - If you have a grill, kebabs are a must for a colorfully flavored main dish with minimum fuss. Add grilled chicken and vegetables in different colors and textures, and you're good to go.

Cold Soups - Cold soups are quick and simple to make and are the most convenient summer party food. You can place your ingredients in the fridge long before preparation time to produce the best results. For an ultra cooling soup, try a cucumber soup or melon soup. For a peppery alternative, try doing an icy avocado soup with jalapeno peppers. Search Epicurious.com or Chow.com and you'll find dozens of quick and easy recipes.

Salads - With the array of vegetables and fruits available at this time of the year, it is easy to prepare a mouth-watering fruit or vegetable salad. Add flavor and texture to the salads by adding nuts or meat. Some ideas:

Grilled Salmon Salad - Grill pink salmon and then cut it into strips; add chopped tomatoes, spinach and lettuce; sprinkle with lemon and you are done.

Mango Nut Salad - Mango nut salad takes next to no time to prepare. Cut the mangoes into cubes; add chopped pecans or walnuts, and raisins. That’s it!

Deserts and Treats

Flavored Ice - Flavored ice is especially popular with youngsters. Set fruit juices like grape, mangoes, apples and berries in popsicle or fudge containers. You can also mix and match the juices or add bits of fruit to the icy treats to create fun flavors. Plan ahead for these - the ice will need at least a few hours to set.

Or don't sweat it - get some ice cream. It's the ultimate summer party food. If you want something a bit more hands on (and healthy) try chilled fruit kebabs.

Whatever you do, have fun. It's a party!
