App of the Week: Barcode Scanner

App of the Week: Barcode Scanner

Now that I have the iPhone 4S, I have been downloading apps quite frequently. Not that I really need them, just purely because I can. I was a deprived Blackberry owner up until a month ago, and the only apps I could successfully run was an hour of streaming Pandora and Twitter. That has all changed, and now I am always in the market for a good app.

My latest purchase was the Barcode Scanner app by BahnTech, and I have to admit I was pretty surprised by its capabilities. This app turns your smartphone into a barcode scanner that will tell you where you can purchase the scanned item at the best price. Everyone loves barcode scanners. The power you feel with a scanning gun in your hand is like no other. It's fun, which is one of the major reasons why people get "scanner happy" while registering for wedding gifts. That's right, yet another app to increase shopping habits, but this app will save you time and money. You no longer have to spend time searching the web for the best price. All you have to do is scan a barcode, and within a few seconds your phone will tell you where you need to go.

This app is $0.99 on iTunes and is worth every penny. I've already used it a couple times and found that it's cheaper to buy the notebooks I use online verses buying them in store. So if you're looking for a cheap app to download that just happens to save you money I'd take a look at this app.

Erich B. There are applications like this that are completely free on Android. - 12/09/2011
Some O. You wrote: "I found that it's cheaper to buy the notebooks I use online verses buying them in store" and that's why our neighborhoods are filled with empty abandoned storefronts! So, maybe you saved a few pennies by buying a notebook online, but by doing so, you helped drive a local Mom 'n' Pop store out of business. Reminds me of the old saying "They know the price of everything, but the value of nothing!" - 11/28/2011
