App of the Week: Pano

App of the Week: Pano

Some breathtaking views deserve more than a 4x6 frame. Whether you were on vacation or caught a picture in your own backyard, you know the feeling of having an image cut short. Well, there is an app that can change all of that. The Pano app by Debacle Software will turn normal images into one well-formated panoramic picture.

It's hard to believe that a small iPhone can produce such beautifully crafted images, but this app can easily turn up to 16 separate images into a 360º panoramic view. Though your iPhone lacks the wide lense and clear focus of a high-end camera, this app uses multiple images and blends them to make one panoramic shot.

It sounds time consuming, but this app includes an advanced alignment screen so you can line up where the next image needs to be taken. After all the photos are shot, this app will blend these images using a color-correction algorithm quickly creating one solid image. It's a pretty awesome app, but if you don't want to take my word for it, take a look at the Flickr page set up for all of these iPhone Panoramic shots.

H.T. K. You are aware, I hope, that this app is also available for Android phones. - 01/06/2012
