10 Classic DVDs
It's true, I'm slowly becoming my father. And this year, as much as I want movies like "Inglourious Basterds," "Sherlock Holmes" and, a guilty pleasure, the entire suite of "Harry Potter" films, the ones I'm interested in having in my movie drawer are a bit older. They are the best guy movies and worth, I believe, the investment to keep them around.
- "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" – An original, a birth of something special.
- "The Great Escape" – WWII and Steve McQueen? Perfect pairing.
- "Thomas Crown Affair"– The original. Steve McQueen and a young, incredibly beautiful Faye Dunaway.
- "Grand Prix" – A young James Garner in the greatest racing movie ever made.
- "Jeremiah Johnson" – Robert Redford going all mountain man.
- "2001: A Space Odyssey" – It leaves you dreaming for and dreading the future.
- "The Godfather" – Stereotypical? Sure. But stereotypically awesome.
- "The Sting" – Paul Newman is one smooth operator.
- "High Plains Drifter" – My favorite of the “Man With No Name” movies. Paint the town red.
- “True Grit” – I love watching this with my old man. John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn is, of itself, art.
