5 Gifts for the Fitness Dad

5 Gifts for the Fitness Dad

Any guy who tells you he doesn’t love receiving gifts is lying.

Any guy who tells you “I don’t care what you get me” is also lying.

We care. We love getting gifts, especially if they’re cool ones. More guys would get cool gifts if they would tell their significant other what they want rather than playing the aloof card and letting her pick it out, only to be disappointed you received a sucky gift.

I love getting gifts, and since I’m some sort of fitness expert I thought I’d share a list of the Top 5 fitness gifts for a fella.

1. Suspension Trainer

I really wish I'd jumped on this bandwagon as soon as they were released, but I’m sad to say it took awhile. If I had to choose one piece of equipment to start my home gym, a high-quality suspension trainer would be first on the list, and my favorite is the Jungle Gym XT by Lifeline Fitness.

The number of exercises you can do with the Jungle Gym is limited only by your imagination. Push-ups? Check! Lunges? Absolutely! Rows? Pssh, please!

The man in your life will first think these are really cool, then he may be bewildered as to what the heck to do with them, but once he pops in the DVD and watches all the different things he can do, he’ll be very thankful you gave him such a cool gift.

I like the Jungle Gym XT because I think the handles are a bit sturdier and more adaptable than some others, and I like the fact that each strap is fully independent. You also don’t need a lot of room to use it. You can strap ‘em over a sturdy door (make sure it’s sturdy!!!), a heavy branch or over a power rack or well-mounted pull-up bar.

If you’re worried these are too advanced, put your fears aside. Virtually any fitness level can get a phenomenal workout with the Jungle Gym XT. Because the exercises use your bodyweight, you simply adjust your position to make the exercise easier or tougher. Once the basics are mastered, the fun can really begin!
