Vladimir Jurcik had a simple goal: do 50 sit-ups for every year of his life. Not bad if he were, say, two-years-old. But Vlad is 60, and in April 2011 he fell a little short of 3,000 sit-ups non-stop. He did set the world record for consecutive sit-ups in 60 minutes at 2,238. “I do this for my own fitness and well-being,” he said, “And secondly to raise awareness to hearing dogs.” His dog, Roxy, was with him when he set the mark and helps him get through life with a hearing impairment.
