Required Reading: "Paste" Magazine

When my sons were very young I had little sense of what was happening in the world of pop culture. Even today a trivia question pulled from those years usually will stump me, despite my attempts to fill the gap.
To help fill your own gap, check out "Paste" magazine. It's full of stories about the latest movies, TV shows, books, music and games. The writers are smart, funny and in the know, without the too-hip-for-school attitude that seems to infest such sites. And If, like me, you sometimes feel too unhip to be all that interested in what's hip, you won't feel that way on "Paste." Instead, you'll find a lot of entertaining information about stuff you've heard about.
"Paste" began in 2002 as a quarterly print publication focused only on music, but since then has widened its scope to other pop culture areas. In 2010, it became solely to an online publication. The articles and reviews will keep you informed about what's happening in the world outside your demanding job and growing family. "Paste" also is loaded with "best" lists ("80 Best Workout Songs," "10 Best Comedians of the Decade (2000–2009)" that are addictive to browse and no doubt could lead to some terrific arguments with friends.
My favorite feature, however, is the blog called "Festivus." Here, far-flung reporters write about events they attend, from film and music festivals to Atlanta's "BaconFest."
Let's face it: we're busy dads with many responsibilities and limited mobility. Good to hear reports about all the stuff we're not doing anymore. With the folks at "Paste," you're in good hands.
