The Dyson DC41 Animal

The Dyson DC41 Animal

The day the Dyson DC41 Animal arrived was warm and balmy, but I couldn't help but think it felt like Christmas. A Dyson on your doorstep is as good as a fat man in your chimney any day.

The Dyson DC41 Animal is, as you may have guessed, designed to pick up stubborn pet hair and their assorted dander. And by "designed" I mean that it's a freaking Dyson and all that that implies (It implies, according to Dyson, that "it generates the strongest suction power at the cleaner head, to powerfully remove dust, dirt and pet hair from the home.").

The beauty of this new version of the Dyson Animal is that it was created to handle a variety of floor types. It is equally adept and efficient on tile and wood flooring as it is on carpet.

We live in a two-story home that is wood on one floor and tile on the other. There are assorted rugs thrown throughout. We also have two dogs, two cats and a pile of pet hair so big that we named it and got it a license. You can't be too careful.

This is why I was excited when the Dyson arrived. This is why I quickly set up the vacuum and plugged it in with a gusto normally reserved for new computers and big screen TVs. I turned it on and the world became one room cleaner.

I vacuumed tile, then wood, and finally the carpet. Then I changed up the order, just to throw the vacuum a curveball. It hit it out of the ballpark.

The pet hair stirred and scampered, trying to hide on cushions and baseboards, but to no avail. There is a new sheriff in town, and it has the latest Radial Root Cyclone technology, which is, obviously, trademarked.

Here's the rub, I was raised to believe a vacuum was not a smart gift to give a loved one, especially if said loved one was your wife or your mother. However, Dyson has changed my mind. Giving a Dyson DC41 Animal is a gift that keeps on giving. It's like putting coal in your pet hair's stocking.
