An Obsessive Man's Desk Organization Tips

An Obsessive Man's Desk Organization Tips

My desk is sacred space. I know immediately when something has been removed or added to the surface. Move my phone a little to the left and I'll spot it before I even sit down. I usually clutter my desk up throughout the day through natural use (throwing a pile of papers to the side or grabbing whatever pen is closest to me while I'm on a call), but I always clear everything off before I quit for the day. Call it obsessive, but it's how I work best.

You can organize your desk in many ways, but I feel an office desk should be organized with efficiency in mind. Just like a computer, calculator or pen and pencil set, the desk is a tool that can either help or hinder your productivity.

Sohan J. I use my computer for panning my activities. I do not keep my purse or other financial information on my desk unless I need to use it. I do drink my cofee or tea on my desk but remove the empty cup as soon as possible. - 03/19/2011
Byron A. This is the year 2011. Seriously, you are using a hard-copy planner? Isn't there a computer in front of you? - 03/03/2011
Tom C. Obsessive man - I'd never pay 15 bucks for a pencil holder. Anyway, what would I do with my prized DEC and StorageTek coffee mugs. All kidding aside, it is good to be reminded once in awhile that simplicity is best. Thanks..... - 02/21/2011
