Unique Gifts for Your Wife: More than Flowers

Unique Gifts for Your Wife: More than Flowers

It took me a while to learn what women want. I used to think that if a woman said, “not to worry” about getting flowers for Valentine's Day, she actually meant it. I only made that mistake once. So I try to make Valentine's Day special for my wife.

First, a disclaimer – there is no list of gifts which any and all women will like. There actually are some women who don't like flowers, and others, like my wife, who are not impressed by jewelry, no matter how expensive. The key to Valentine's Day is to cater the gift to the woman in your life.

It's not how much you spend, but that you get a gift which shows you care about her. And even more important, that you know her and what she likes.

Flowers, of course. The most important thing to know about flowers is that it usually isn't enough to simply hand her a store-bought bunch you picked up on the way home. Go the extra mile and have them delivered. This is especially true if your wife/girlfriend works. No woman wants to be the only one in her office whose husband or boyfriend didn't send flowers. Make her feel special. Spend a bit more, and get a dozen roses. It's worth it.

However, flowers alone might not be enough. If flowers are the appetizers, allow chocolate dipped strawberries to be the main course. Personally, if someone sent me fruit, I'd be upset. But most of the women I know seem to love getting these delivered to them. While some flower companies now offer chocolate covered strawberries, you'll likely find the largest selection at ediblearrangements.com.

Stay at a bed and breakfast. Nothing says romance like a quick one or two night getaway at a bed and breakfast. Many bed and breakfasts will also work with you to arrange to have wine and snacks in your room, make restaurant arrangements or in some places, arrange for a horse-drawn carriage ride.
