5 Watches Under $100
November 18, 2010, By Eric Burgess 3 comments
Early on in my relationship with my wife, I was told to lose the big college ring and man bracelet. She informed me that watches were pretty much the only man jewelry I was allowed to wear. This particularly sucked for me because for some reason I’ve always liked to accessorize. (Disclaimer, I’m aware of what this sounds like but I don't care).
Anyway, I’ve worn a watch for much of my life. Not only are watches great for obvious time telling reasons, they’re great now for looking sharp as a dad. That said, below are some watches I’ve found to be fashionable, functional and under $100.
Nixon Time Teller
Nixon’s Time Teller watch is basic, clean, minimalist one that comes rated for 100-meter water resistance. It’s got a stainless steel strap and housing and a 3 hand Japanese quartz movement. Nixon offers a variety of watches and accessories with varying styles for both men and women. A lot of watches in their collection can be pricey, but I’ve found this particular one on Amazon for $90.
Fossil Decker Mash Chronograph
If she’s not going to let you wear a bracelet, this is the watch you need as it embodies the look and feel of one with its mesh chain. This watch is super modern looking as well as water resistant to 100 meters/300 feet. Do your deep sea diving in style – seriously. Available at zappos.com for $95.00.
Vestal Digichord
Like Nixon, most Vestal watches can be priced way over the $100 price point. This one however happens to be available on swell.com for $60.00. Embrace the future with its humongous digital display. The black synthetic strap won’t pinch you like a stainless steel one can and it makes for a much lighter wear. This watch is definitely more for the edgy and less conservative type.
Kenneth Cole New York
Kenneth Cole makes amazing clothes. He also has a line of rather inexpensive branded watches. With its Lizard-stamped leather strap with buckle closure, this watch will make you feel like a million bucks for under a hundred. And, at only 2.0 ounces I think this is the lightest weight watch on the list. Available at zappos.com for $89.00.
Casio ‘Classic G-Shock’ Watch
I’m going to throw in Casio’s Classic G-Shock watch for good measure since I know a lot of you guys had one of these growing up. This digital, shock-resistant watch has multiple alarms, an auto calendar, a stopwatch and so much more. G-Shock’s band is pre-curved to prevent direct shock in the back of the watch. It also provides a more ergonomical fit on your wrist. Use the stopwatch to time how fast your kid eats his vegetables (or not). A solid watch at a solid price. $89.00 at Nordstrom.com.
