Replacement: A Man's Jeans

What's wrong with a good pair of boot-cut (slightly flared below the knee, but not bell-bottom) Levi's? They work harder than a team of oxen pulling a wagon through mud and look great on just about anyone. Or, better yet, if tough pants are your thing, why not try a truly tough pair of chinos? We really like Mountain Khakis because they are the kind of pants you could wear with a blue blazer and oxford to a meeting in the afternoon and to the lake with a fishing shirt in pursuit of some smallmouth in the evening. They are do-anything, go-anywhere pants. And you never end up looking like a sagging hipster.

A E. A real man gets married, stays married & lets the wife make the fashion calls from then on. It's that simple. If you don't realize she's got more fashion sense than you, she's probably got more sense period. - 11/03/2011
Steppy T. All the people saying they "dont care" are wearing butterfly collars, green paisley bell bottoms, and platform shoes with gold fish in the heels. - 10/27/2011
The D. To everyone saying "who cares I wear what I want": You reading and commenting on this piece shows that you do in fact care about fashion. - 10/27/2011
Dean L. Who gives a crap what other people think. I wear what I want, when I want! - 10/24/2011
Amy P. LOL! FYI... THEY WERE NEVER COOL! - 10/13/2011
Ex G. I don't like that Ed Hardy crap either but the cheap gray t-shirt and described as "simple elegance" made me LOL. - 10/09/2011
Ron B. Who the hell cares what this clown thinks???? In or Out a man wears what he wants, not what some clown on the Internet decides. - 10/02/2011
Mark L. The fashion that is out of style is the fashion of having someone tell me what's in or out -- as if you're in charge -- and having me believe it. - 10/02/2011
H M. If the cost of a pair of Persols is really all you make in a week, you may not want to waste so much time on looking "cool" and spend some of it improving your situation. - 09/30/2011

Wes G. What else is not cool is the habit of walking about with stubble on your face. Grow a beard or shave. The stubble causes whisker burn in the most tender of places - 09/28/2011
Earl S. Ed Hardy and Affliction were never cool. Never. - 09/27/2011
Momma M. Trust me guys, the only one who thinks you look good in skinny jeans is another guy that was checking out your butt. Women want a man in a working man's jean. Levi's boot cut or even Wrangler cowboy cut. We want to see your butt, but not everything else. - 09/26/2011
Nickoo S. Serioulsy! Boot cuts jeans are out! Slim straight leg is what every guy should be wearing and they are timeless and will always look good, dockers D2 straight leg 5 pocket chinos, and levi 514s or 501/501 shrink to fit, try them all on, get the ones that fit best. - 09/24/2011
G T. May as well go back to a grey flannel suit if you're going to try this hard to look like everyone else. Phrasing it in terms of what's cool just makes you sound old and complaining about the young whipper-snappers who just won't pull their pants up. Those complainers aren't known for their sense of fashion. - 09/21/2011
B S. I'd have to agree, none of the items you listed were ever cool to begin with, atleast with people who read "man of the house" - the fact you clowns thought these were cool says very little about who is working in your fashion department - advice - get a better writer - someone that can provide useful information to "men", otherwise, leave the fashion articles to GQ. - 09/05/2011
S. K. For the record, most of these were never cool to begin with. (Ed Hardy and Affliction may have been POPULAR for a while, but we all laughed at you behind your back. If not to your face. So… yeah.) Skinny jeans though? Nothing wrong with them, really-- IF you can pull it off. Which most guys can't: you need to have the physique of a gangly 16-year-old, an Invading Brit, or a starving musician slash heroin addict. IOW, you yourself need to be skinny or it just looks stupid (ie: like you're unable to judge the dimensions of your own body). The problem isn't skinny jeans per se, it's wearing clothes that are too small. Golf-balls-stuffed-in-a-condom isn't a good look for anyone. - 09/05/2011
