4 Hair Cut Options for Men

4 Hair Cut Options for Men

Lately I have been battling the hair decision: Do I or do I not need a haircut? Do I let it go a little long or keep it short and neat? It might seem like a small decision, but it's really not. We have to live with the decision every day as it stares back at us in the mirror.

Now, I have had my hair in dozens of styles, from mid-shoulder long to totally shaved. I like to experiment. Some of those experiments work and many don’t. Choosing the right style depends a lot on your age and the shape of your head. So if you’re thinking of altering you’re look, use these simple guidelines to maximize what you have (or don’t) to look your best.

1. The Fivehead

This guy has a high forehead, thus the name--so much "four" head that it's a "five" head. You can compensate by wearing your hair longer in the front, but if you’re over the age of 35, don’t go with the shaggy bangs. Bangs make you look immature and desperate. The best style for this type of head after that age is the close-cropped cut. A shorter style will make you look your age, enhancing confidence and adding dignity.

2. The Melon

Some people just have rounder heads than others. The ones who wear their hair mid-length always look the best. The shaved, or close-cropped cut sometimes makes these head types look like tennis balls with eyes. And don’t go long. It makes you look like a mop-top and not in the fashionable Beatles sense. Leave that to the teenagers.

Dee M. OK, how dumb is it to write an article like this one, WITHOUT PICTURES to illustrate what the heck he's talking about?? Anyway: I prefer longer hair on men, and I think most women do. Go take a look at the covers of romance novels, which cater to women's tastes in men. Women are attracted to men who are tall, muscular, and long-haired; and preferably dressed in the kind of garb one would find at a renaissance fair. (Also a nice alpha male personality blend of tender, macho, heroic, dapper, witty and chivalrous.) Men may feel more 'professional' with short hair and business suits; but then they wonder why the women in their lives are not more interested in sex. Clueless, much? Start being sexier and more attractive men, then you'll find women are much more interested in sex. - 06/30/2011
Charles M. Unless your hair is long down to your collar (think Kurt Cobain), then the answer of "when" is the back of your neck. If the hair on the lower part of your neck is looking long and bushy, it's time for a general haircut. I don't mean back hair that grows UP toward your head, but the hair in the two or three tails of hair that extend down the back of your head to your neck. If that's unkempt looking then it's time for the barber. Look at any sharp business guy in a suit - the back of his head and neck always looks crisp (if it doesn't, hire someone else). - 06/22/2011
Rob H. Pictures would be nice. Remember that you are writing to a crowd that is visual in nature to begin with, we like to see pictures to know what your talking about. - 06/14/2011
Clem D. How can a story like this not have example pictures? - 06/04/2011
Charlie T. Now 'some' famous people (Tom Brady, Brad Pitt) are sporting long hair and getting away with it. It all depends on the person, the style (not scraggly) and the profession. I work in construction and keep my locks long to keep the sun off my neck! It is cut short for the winter. - 05/31/2011
Harry B. B. Speaking of PKL, does he wear a rug or color his hair? - 05/24/2011
Tiny T. Why would anyone want thier hair to look like a lawn that hasn't been cut all summer? The hair style makes a statement. take a look at P.K.L. what do you think? No cussing please!! - 05/24/2011
